What Is AuroraChain?

AuroraChain is a blockchain-based smart-contract platform announced during May 2018’s “Beyond the Blocks” event in Seoul, South Korea. It was created to compete with Ethereum’s decentralized application ecosystem. Aurora AOA, AuroraChain’s native cryptocurrency, was originally developed as ABitchain (ABTC), and uses a Delegated-Proof-of-Stake (DPoS) and Byzantine Fault Tolerance (BFT) consensus mechanism.
The AuroraChain mainnet launched in the summer of 2018 with support for both the Ethereum Virtual Machine and Solidity programming language. AuroraChain’s average gas fees are 0.0001 AOA, and it can reach transaction speeds of 2000 transactions per second (TPS), which is on par with the EOS blockchain.
The key pain points AuroraChain relieves in Ethereum’s blockchain are congestion, scalability, and upgradeability. It believes its P2P stereo network is the way to do this. But it’s not even a year old yet and entering an already-crowded marketplace.
Every blockchain project is aware cross-chain functionality and integration with legacy systems and data is a must-have feature. AuroraChain’s team was quick to market, but it still has a long fight ahead of it.
Will AuroraChain be snuffed out before it gets old enough to walk, or will it forge the right partnerships to stand strong against a wave of blockchain-based competitors?
We’ll start our search for answers by examining the market performance of AOA, AuroraChain’s proprietary token, on the cryptocurrency market.

Aurora AOA Cryptocurrency Summary

As of February 27, 2019, the circulating supply of Aurora is 6,542,330,148 out of a total supply of 10,000,000,000 AOA. Its peak price so far was $0.060106 on July 18, 2018.
The initial supply of AOA and ABTC was airdropped throughout 2018 for performing a variety of tasks, such as joining theAurora Telegram group in a variety of languages or following the official Twitter account. The Aurora Foundation retained 40 percent of the initial supply, and early investors retained 34 percent. The remaining 26 percent was airdropped to the community.
Holding AOA in an approved wallet or exchange gives the power to elect a delegate to validate transactions for rewards and vote on network governance. Staking rewards are then distributed among the community. This helps maintain a mix of security and decentralization.
Despite being so young, nearly $2 million worth of AOA is traded on a daily basis. AOA is accepted by Kucoin, CoinEgg, Bitinka, and Indodax so far. It’s constantly looking to secure more cryptocurrency exchange partnerships.
The AuroraChain Foundation created official Aurora wallets for PC and Mac, along with a Lite wallet for mobile. Third-party cryptocurrency wallets that support AOA include Kcash and Math Wallet.

Aurora Borealis or Aurora Australis?

Because it’s late to the game, AuroraChain had plenty of time to learn from the mistakes of other blockchains. What the team essentially did was study the problems of existing blockchains and create a solution to those problems.
First, block forging and smart-contract validation is performed through a DPoS model described above. In addition, the nodes are kept honest through the BFT consensus which locates offline or faulty nodes to remove them from the network. This makes it a lean blockchain 3.0 project.
In addition, the P2P stereo technical structure it uses makes it a more distributed blockchain rather than other decentralized systems. This means trust is passed through a mesh network and the consensus model rather than every node needing the entire digital ledger.
This cluster-computing structure uses the interconnectivity of multiple parallel chains to allow for higher transaction throughput.
Intelligent App Isolation is AuroraChain’s answer to speeding up transactions. Once smart-contract transactions are verified, they’re stored in the Pending Zone as part of its Intelligent App Isolation system.
AuroraChain is targeting industries like gaming, artificial intelligence, big data, and the Internet of Things with this sleek new blockchain.
Co-founder and VP Bo Zhang told News BTC he believes AuroraChain’s low transaction fee and open platform will attract a community of developers who build a dApp ecosystem to attract both enterprise and consumer users.
The sky is the limit for AuroraChain, but this lack of focus leads many analysts to believe it’s all buzz with no brawn. NASDAQ reports Weiss Ratings gave the AuroraChain AOA project a D- rating, making it one of the lowest-grade cryptocurrency investments.
Talk of bulls and bears aside, the criticism boils down to AuroraChain building a somewhat-functioning product (many of its claims haven’t been fully tested in the real world, as the mainnet has been on the market for less than six months so far) that may or may not get any use.
AuroraChain has great viral marketing and PR chops, and it’s certainly not vaporware. But until the team secures enterprise partnerships and vendor buy-in, market acceptance of Aurora is a long ways away.

Summary

AuroraChain is a new project less than one year old. It hit the scene with a lot of hype, but it’s still building an ecosystem that other blockchains already have. If the team can secure the right partnerships, it can stay afloat, despite analyst bets against it almost across the board. To do that, it needs to sell the world on these key factors.
  • AuroraChain is a distributed mesh network of blockchains that has a faster transaction rate than Ethereum and Bitcoin. It uses the same coding language as Ethereum.
  • AOA uses a Distributed Proof of Stake and Byzantine Fault Tolerance consensus model. This helps keep the network stable through a variety of common blockchain error scenarios.
  • AuroraChain has lower transaction rates than Ethereum, making it a better development ecosystem. However, Ethereum wasn’t even the only chain on that block back in May.
For AuroraChain to succeed, it needs to continue its aggressive marketing and hope the “if we build it, they will come,” strategy pays off. It’s a gamble that has many analysts worried, but high-risk investors may appreciate it.

updating a .gs to retrieve CoinMarketCap data following their transition to new API

Hi, I have been using the following simple .gs to pull CoinMarketCap prices but it is broken now with their migration to their new API. I believe the issue lies with "function getCoins()" but I'm not sure how to proceed given CoinMarketCap's guide here: https://coinmarketcap.com/api/documentation/v1/#section/Quick-Start-Guide
var queryString = Math.random();
var ss = SpreadsheetApp.getActiveSpreadsheet(); var ssRates = ss.getSheetByName('Rates'); if (ssRates === null) { ssRates = ss.insertSheet('Rates'); }
var targetCurrency = 'usd'
// Grabs all CoinMarketCap data if (typeof targetCurrency == 'undefined' || targetCurrency == '') {targetCurrency = 'usd'}; var coins = getCoins();
function getCryptoData() {
// Use the value in the 'id' field here: https://api.coinmarketcap.com/v1/ticke?limit=0 // If you're getting errors, you may be using the wrong 'id'

Competitive Analysis: Top DEXs Under The Microscope

Competitive Analysis: Top DEXs Under The Microscope
As we are on the verge of our mainnet release (Aug 20, 2018 — don’t miss!), we have decided to take a quick look at the leaders of the decentralized cryptocurrency exchange market. We have no intention of establishing a rating, so the positions taken in this review do not signify that one platform is better or worse than the other. Also, if you would like to have a deeper engagement in DEX thematics, check our previous article.
https://preview.redd.it/eadi08ak4cf11.png?width=800&format=png&auto=webp&s=ea2a954efab4c12f87a255b20f592cb8ca3b967b

The IDEX: EtherDelta Smart Little Brother

It would be no exaggeration to say that today the IDEX is the most well-known decentralized cryptocurrency exchange. The IDEX is a product of Aurora DAO, part of the decentralized financial system, which consists of the IDEX exchange, the Boreal stable currency, the Snowglobe decentralized exchange protocol, and Decentralized Capital, a digital banking solution for the cryptocurrency community. Launched in January 2018, it now brandishes a $1,7M daily amount of trade at the time of this article’s publication. The IDEX works on Ethereum network and only supports ERC-20 tokens. The trading volume of the site is mostly dominated by the tokens fresh from their ICOs. Among the main advantages are a high level of security, an elaborate interface for experienced traders and a high-level of technology used for exchanges. As for security, the IDEX supports both Metamask and Ledger Nano hardware wallets acting as a smart contract, a trading engine, and a transaction processing arbiter at the same time. Leading traders can take advantage of the TradingView trading charts and their useful features. Being decentralized, the IDEX delivers a full range of centralized and hybrid services. Among the disadvantages is an absence of Bitcoin and fiat currencies, low liquidity (the scourge of all DEXs), and a beginner unfriendly interface.
IDEX is on the threshold of entering the top-100 exchanges trading the no-name-coins.

Waves DEX: ‘Blockchain For The People’

Just like IDEX, the Waves DEX is part of a complex financial system built by the Waves Foundation. Launched in 2016, it was initially designed to combine the best features of centralized and decentralized exchanges. The Waves DEX is able of executing exchanges between its own WAVES token and all the tokens built on the Waves platform, so it can be called a ‘proxy-token’ DEX like its prototype, the NXT. It is important to mention that the easiest way to issue your own token is by using Waves: you just need to fill in a form and your token is ready to be launched on the Waves platform. By the way, this DEX has a lot of strong suits, such as a user-friendly interface, its own secure and easy-to-use wallet, some exotic features like direct trades from Visa and MasterCard (only 20 to 300 USD), and equivalents for fiat currencies (wUSD, wJPY, even Turkish Lira). This DEX is well-known due to its low and fixed transaction fee (some 0.01 USD for a transaction in WAVES equivalent). With Waves, there is a little to judge: maybe the only point of note is a short list of trading pairs, as well as strong binding to the WAVES token.

EtherDelta: Still Holds Its Place

During the last year, the EtherDelta trading platform was primarily mentioned in negative headlines. In December 2017, the attackers gained access to the DNS-server of EtherDelta and stole more than 300 ETH, while leaving the smart-contract of the exchange untouched. In January 2018, a group of unknown individuals organized the supposedly fraudulent ICO of EtherDelta. Some tokens were not sent to their purchasers. This crowdsale raised $69M with no information being made available about the exchange’s owners and beneficiaries. Finally, in February 2018, the fork of EtherDelta, the ForkDelta took place. The administration of the latter persuaded users that they still work on the EtherDelta smart-contract and send transaction fees to EtherDelta.
Despite this series of gossips, EtherDelta is still afloat. Maybe, this is so due to the two points: the ultimate functional of trading with Ethereum (250+ trading pairs) and a simple means of listing ERC-20 tokens on it. EtherDelta became the first platform our SWAP tokens are traded on. Moreover, this platform is familiar to the generation of traders who are using it from the summer of 2016. The weaknesses of Etherdelta are the stuff of legend: a confusing interface, very slow operations, ERC-20 as the only type of token to trade, relatively high transactional fees etc. Nevertheless, Swap.Onlinesupposes it’s a bit early to call for the funeral of EtherDelta.
It is not so easy to deal with the EtherDelta interfacе

Bitsquare: Not Like Anyone Else

Bitsquare was founded in the distant year 2014 with live beta trades launched in April 2016. Its CEO Manfred Carrer planned to maintain the initial idea of the Bitcoin network in decentralized systems. The Bitsquare team intentionally refrained from an ICO in 2016, disseminating the BSQ tokens among the 200 to 400 first contributors of the project. Bitsquare still has some attractive features: a lot of fiat currencies available, ridiculously user-friendly interface, clear and beautiful philosophy, etc. By the way, there are some remarkable weak points, which have sent Bitsquare (or Bisq) to the middle of the second hundred of Coinmarketcap’s top-list. First of all, to trade via the Bisq, you need to have the application installed. Only then can one see the poor list of trading pairs, the complicated system of trading fees, and the small limits of withdrawal through traditional banking systems. For most bank-based payment methods like SEPA or Zelle, the trade limit is 0.25 BTC per trade. For the recently added payment methods like Venmo, Cash App, Revolut, Popmoney and MoneyBeam, the trade limit is 0.16 BTC. The trade limit in the first month is 25% of the full trade limit. As such, the Bitsquare seems to be the most controversial product in our review.

Stellar DEX: All in One

The Stellar Network, well-known for the popular cryptocurrency XLM (lumens), presented its own DEX where only trades in XLM are supported. Users can gain access to the trading features via the Stellar Term client (serving as a wallet at the same time). Every user creates a key pair, which consists of a public key used to identify the account and for receiving funds, and a secret key used for accessing the funds. The Stellar DEX delivers the services of the exchange with fiat money, the USD and EUR, as well as fiat remittances. For now, there are 15 live trading pairs with XLM. More than half of the daily trade amount is made through the XLM/CNY and XLM/EUR pairs. To publish the offer, one needs to deposit 20 XLM on the account. Among Stellar DEX’s more interesting features is the possibility of cross-asset trading. The cross-asset payment feature allows the user to look for the best path that offers the best rate of conversion for their assets at any given time. This involves the user scrolling through the orders in the current order books to find meaningful conversations that provide the best rate. The Stellar DEX also plans to use the Lightning Network, a second-layer scalability solution for the Bitcoin Network. The main limitation to project development is the fact that it is strictly pegged to the XLM cryptocurrency.

Changelly: Cryptocurrency Moneychanger

As Swap.Online is not only a DEX, but also an OTC-marketplace delivering the services of accepting cryptos to the startups via the Swap Button Widget, we need to have a look at centralized services as well. One of them, Changelly, seems to be one of the most convenient and rapid ways of exchanging your cryptos into fiat money and your altcoins into other altcoins. You need to submit your e-mail to start the trade. The average time of one trade is some 10 to 30 mins. By the way, there is one massive caveat you should take into account when sending your cryptos to Changelly. The transaction fee for fiat/crypto exchange can vary in the dozens of percentage points. It depends on a series of factors including the network workload, trading pair popularity etc. Finally, the owners of Changelly are still anonymous. Nevertheless, it is one of the fastest and safest ways of exchanging your cryptos.

In Place Of An Epilogue: Atomic Swap DEXs Coming Soon

To finish this review, we need to say a few word about Atomic Swaps DEXs. Among the most anticipated are Altcoin.io and BarterDEX by Komodo. Both of them are still under development: the release of the Altcoin.io mainnet is scheduled for Q4, 2018, when the BarterDEX reaches the Beta phase and can be downloaded as a desktop application. The latter is of particular interest, as the Komodo Platform is a pioneer of Atomic Swap technology itself. Both teams have announced safe, decentralized, user-friendly products based on state-of-the-art technology.
https://preview.redd.it/etn8fpum4cf11.png?width=800&format=png&auto=webp&s=52007df41f9c54badf2513ce39b6df43e6ff857f
Coinmarketcap is eyeballing the Komodo’s Barterdex even before its release.

What’s the tally?

Swap.Online is in good company. Having so many worthy adversaries, we will build an interesting and revolutionary product

1st Monthly Unitus Community Update! (October/17)

Welcome to the 1st Official Unitus Community Update! The community update will be released during the 1st week of every month from now on.
Intro
What is Unitus?
Unitus is about bringing together smaller crypto-currencies and the communities that support them into a larger group capable of greater change, influence and innovation, whilst allowing each to maintain their own unique identities.
Who is Unitus?
Unitus is compromised of a bunch of passionate individuals who really want it to succeed. It is not one single person or entity. It is whoever is apart of it. The developers, team members, volunteers, investors, community and whoever else. We are all equal here and everybody is treated as such.
What is the direction of Unitus?
The direction is all about improving UIS in any fashion possible. The development, mining, marketing, exchanges, branding, the community and anything/everything else.
Development
Things on the current roadmap have been going smoothly. Core Wallet Update
We are happy to officially announce that the major project for 2017, an update of the codebase of Unitus is complete! Unitus was initially based on bitcoin core 0.9.3 , which is now 3 years old. We've been working hard to rebase Unitus on bitcoin core 0.14.2, which brings some significant updates including:
Some of these changes are immediate, others are network level changes that will be introduced as more people adopt the new client. Key to all of this is compatibility with existing wallets and network nodes, thus major new features that are available in Bitcoin have not yet been enabled. We will evaluate in the future what features to enable, depending on what occurs upstream.
Release of the new wallet, including pre-compiled binary files for Windows, MacOS, Ubuntu, Raspbian are out now!
We're also working on a major re-styling of the wallet, to give us a unique identity.
Paper Wallet Generator
Just released a little while ago, this is now available at https://paper.unitus.online
Electrum Wallet
Preliminary work on an Electrum port for Unitus has started. This will give people a faster and light-weight option instead of the full core wallet.
Other development projects
All of these are included in our current roadmap, work on these is on-going:
A new, updated roadmap will also be published soon with other projects for the future.
Mining
Unitus Mining Pool - http://mine.unitus.online
Always popular with Argon2d miners, the mining pool has been encountering a few growing pains recently, but we're working hard on that to ensure high uptime and maximum rewards!
We are glad to announce that MasterZeus, has just updated and released the UIS Argon2d calculator.
We've also implemented merge mining support, allowing us to mine other coins that share on of our proof-of-work, and then exchange those coins for more UIS. This has proven to be popular for Skein miners, and we're looking to add additional coins across the spectrum of algorithms.
What is merge mining?
Merge mining is what sets Unitus apart from many other cryptocurrencies. It allows us to essentially get free hashrate to secure the network, with no additional workload for miners. The miner does nothing extra. He just works away looking for those good hashes. The brains of the operation is in the pool, but the result is the same work for the miner with higher rewards, coins coming from both wallets, and network security for Unitus at no extra cost. Everyone wins!
Coins you can currently merge mine with Unitus
Adzcoin (ADZ) ArcticCoin (ARC) Artex (ATX) AuroraCoin (AUR) Beach (SAND) Beonpush (BOPS) Bitcoin Planet (BTPL) Bolivar (BOLI) Bows (BSC) CannabisCoin (CANN) Centurion (CNT) Coexist (COXST) Coino (CNO) CopyPasta (CTRLV) Dash (DASH) Digibyte (DGB) Eryllium (ERY) Fal (FAL) GlobalBoost-Y (BSTY) Granite (GRN) Happy (HPC) Influxcoin (INFX) Join (J-x-11) Kash (KASH) Kurrent (KURT) Linked (LXC) Marijuana (MAR) Marx (MARX) Mavrodi (MMM) Mind (MND) Monetary Unit (MUE) Myriad (XMY) Ofw (OFW) OGN (OGN) Ozzie (OZC) PIZZA (PIZZA) Prime-XI (PXI) Seven (SEV) StartCoin (START) Vault (VLTC) Verge (XVG) VertCoin (VTC) VirtaPlus (XVP)
And growing!
Branding
You may have noticed that there are a few different colored UIS logos floating around the internet. Black chains and multi colored chains. Well, we are officially announcing that in a branding effort, the color Grey will be our main color. The official Unitus logo will be Grey on white. We feel that it is clean and neutral look. Grey on black will also be used for other UIS related headers, images and such. Other promotional material that is already out may still be used.
Marketing
Unitus has had solid development for years, but has lacked a bit in the marketing department. Now that we have committed on the branding, we can ramp up the marketing. We have just hired a new member to the team ~6 weeks ago, and he has been doing a good job on twitter getting attention and followers in the mean time prior to the news announcements in this thread.
In a marketing effort, we would like to officially announce the creation of the United Crypto Alliance (UCA)! It will consist of Unitus and other cryptocurrencies that are merge mineable with UIS. The goal of the (UCA) will be to promote each other, therefore creating a synergistic effect that will benefit everybody involved. We would like to formally introduce Myriad (XMY) as the 1st member of the (UCA) besides Unitus! Stay tuned for more information regarding this!
Community
The community has been growing at a very good rate recently. Ever since we picked up our social media activity last month, we have been accruing a good amount of Slack members and Twitter followers. Right now we have over 400 total Slack members and over 1100 twitter followers. The Slack channel has been a lot more active recently as a result. You can get a pretty fast response to a question asked there. We currently have some very intelligent and friendly members. You can currently reach us at these places and we are also currently expanding to other platforms which will be announced.
